Product Guide
Pneumatic cylinder
A pneumatic cylinder converts compressed-air energy into linear movement for industrial handling, clamping and positioning. Bore, stroke, mounting, available pressure and cushioning affect selection. This overview covers the cylinder family; rodless, compact and piston-rod designs retain their own mechanical requirements.
Practical purchasing guidance for universities, research laboratories, industry and institutional buyers.
Applications and workflows
Typical workflows help you define the application and compare suitable product configurations.
- Compressed-air linear motion, handling and clamping
- Industrial automation, positioning and handling
- Compressed-air control and pneumatic installation
Technical selection criteria
Include these parameters in your inquiry to align laboratory users, technical teams and purchasing.
- Bore, stroke, actuation type, cushioning and required force
- Stroke, force, payload, repeatability and mounting
- Working pressure, flow capacity and required air quality
- Port size, thread standard and tubing connection
Variants and compatibility
Single-acting and double-acting cylinders, rodless versions and guided assemblies differ in actuation, load support and mounting. Confirm cushioning, position sensing and required accessories. A theoretical force value does not by itself establish usable force under actual operating conditions.
Documentation and delivery
A dimensional match alone is not a replacement approval. Verify load, duty cycle, material, medium and installation against the machine documentation. Request traceable part identification and the relevant technical drawing. Pressure-rated or safety-critical installations require their own suitability review.
Confirm the required documents, packaging and delivery conditions for the selected item and destination.
