Directional control valve
A directional control valve routes, opens or blocks compressed-air flow between ports in a pneumatic circuit. Port count, switching positions, normal state, actuation and flow capacity determine its function. Directional function is separate from the actuation method: a solenoid valve is not automatically the correct replacement.

Variants and compatibility
Configurations such as 3/2, 5/2 and 5/3 specify different port and position arrangements. Spring return, bistable action, centre condition and pilot requirements must match the circuit. Matching ports alone does not confirm the same fail state or any safety certification.
Documentation and delivery
A dimensional match alone is not a replacement approval. Verify load, duty cycle, material, medium and installation against the machine documentation. Request traceable part identification and the relevant technical drawing. Pressure-rated or safety-critical installations require their own suitability review.
