Scharlau Acetonitrile, LC-MS is a high-purity solvent developed for liquid chromatography–mass spectrometry applications. According to Scharlab specifications, the product has a minimum assay of 99.9% by gas chromatography and passes suitability testing for LC-MS use. The solvent is microfiltered through 0.1 µm membranes and features a maximum water content of 0.01% by Karl Fischer and a maximum residue on evaporation of 0.0001%. Its controlled trace-metal profile includes low ppb limits for aluminium, barium, cadmium, calcium, chromium, cobalt, copper, iron, lead, magnesium, manganese, nickel, potassium, silver, sodium, tin and zinc. Scharlau Acetonitrile, LC-MS has the molecular formula CH₃CN, a molecular weight of 41.05 g/mol and CAS number 75-05-8. It is also known as methyl cyanide or cyanomethane and is suitable for chromatography, solvent applications and organic synthesis.
