Product Guide
Wound contact layer
A wound contact layer forms the interface between a wound and the rest of a dressing system within its documented intended purpose. Material, surface treatment and fluid transfer affect compatibility with the specified secondary dressing. It is not automatically an absorbent pad, a complete dressing system or an antimicrobial product.
Practical purchasing guidance for universities, research laboratories, industry and institutional buyers.
Applications and workflows
Typical workflows help you define the application and compare suitable product configurations.
- Procurement of compatible contact layers and secondary dressings
- Professional healthcare supply against the stated intended purpose
Technical selection criteria
Include these parameters in your inquiry to align laboratory users, technical teams and purchasing.
- Manufacturer intended purpose, classification and instructions for use
- Contact material, coating or impregnation and fluid-transfer structure
- Documented compatibility with the required secondary dressing
- Sterility status and validated sterilisation compatibility
Variants and compatibility
Silicone-coated, ointment-impregnated and other contact-layer constructions are not interchangeable solely by size. Confirm composition, secondary-dressing requirements and the stated indications and restrictions. Sterility, cutting permissions and antimicrobial claims require explicit product documentation.
Documentation and delivery
Procurement must follow the manufacturer intended purpose and the destination market. Verify classification, applicable CE/declaration of conformity, manufacturer/importer identification, traceability and sterile status where claimed. This guide does not prescribe treatment or assign a medical device class.
Confirm the required documents, packaging and delivery conditions for the selected item and destination.
