Product Guide
Expanded polymer microsphere
Expanded polymer microspheres are hollow polymer particles used as lightweight fillers in suitable coatings, sealants and formulated materials. They are supplied already expanded; particle size, density and resistance to processing conditions determine suitability. They are not surfactants or automatically interchangeable with unexpanded blowing agents.
Practical purchasing guidance for universities, research laboratories, industry and institutional buyers.
Applications and workflows
Typical workflows help you define the application and compare suitable product configurations.
- Density reduction in compatible coatings, sealants and formulated materials
- Coating, ink and surface-property development
- Formulation development and compatibility screening
Technical selection criteria
Include these parameters in your inquiry to align laboratory users, technical teams and purchasing.
- Particle density, bulk density and resistance to processing loads
- Particle-size distribution and physical form
- Active content, carrier and supplied physical form
- Compatibility with the full formulation and process
Variants and compatibility
Dry and wet expanded forms differ in handling, solids content and dosing. Check processing temperature, shear and solvent compatibility for the exact grade. Do not assume that pre-expanded filler will behave like a thermally expandable, unexpanded microsphere.
Documentation and delivery
Request the current safety data sheet, technical data sheet and agreed quality specification for the supplied formulation. Confirm composition, carrier, storage conditions and shelf life. Transport classification must be checked for the actual grade, packaging, quantity and destination; the generic product name is not a transport clearance.
Confirm the required documents, packaging and delivery conditions for the selected item and destination.
